Clear keyboard short cut

On Flame it appears the keyboard shortcut #503 is listed as ctrl PAD*

It doesn't seem to work. My prefs have no custom keyboard shortcuts, I started a new user with the latest release.

Any suggestions on how to use it?

Thanks

Hello @Peter_Tresize,

This keyboard shortcut is a relic from the Pre-20th Anniversary Smoke Advanced versions. It no longer makes much sense in the software. It was used to clear the different marks (In, Out, Segment Markers, Markers) in two steps.

Step 1: Ctrl *

Step 2: The shortcut of the item you want to clear.

We have added shortcuts to delete all kind of items since then so we can remove that keyboard shortcut.

Note that having it appear next to the Clear operation in the contextual menu was an error. The two operations are not linked.

Please accept this as a solution if you feel your question has been answered.

Hi Fred,

I've attached a screen recording to show how I've been using clear on the desktop.

I find clear useful as I can keep a colored reel group structure in place, and clear only removes the contents. This is  usually more useful for me than delete.

thanks

Peter

So what you want to do is to assign a shortcut to "Clear Content" in the Keyboard Shortcut editor. That's the shortcut that will perform the same operation as Clear in the contextual menu.

ok, Thanks Fred.

If there's a chance in the future to give clear content a short cut as part of the Flame short cuts, that would be helpful. It reminds me of pre anniversary: the desktop structure felt more stable, and was easier for muscle memory.

I've set a keyboard shortcut for clear content, but that only seems to work in the Timeline tab. It would be helpful if it would work in all the tabs. I see it is a shortcut with white text indicating that it is a local short cut.

I had a look at the documentation:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/FLAME/2020/ENU/?guid=GUID-3D795907-09EA-45D9-B0B6-5A719A0AA6E2

But couldn't follow how to make the shortcut into a Global shortcut. Is it possible with clear content?

thanks
