Can Flame 2020 and Smoke 2018 run on the same system?

I’m preparing to upgrade from Smoke 2018 to Flame 2020 (on Mac pro system).  As a test I tried to install a trial version of Flame to see if it would read old Smoke projects.  During the install configuration I got the error message “One or more incompatible products are already installed”.    Is this just a problem with the trial Flame software?  Will this also happen when I purchase a flame subscription?  

Smoke and Flame share some of the same utilities so I'm worried I may need to uninstall Smoke before installing Flame.   I hope not.    Ideally I’d like to run both Smoke and Flame for a week or so to make sure all old projects load properly.   

Any advice out there?

Just in lieu of someone more official chiming in, I believe that the incompatibility message is that you cannot mix demo/educational versions with conventional versions of Flame/Smoke. It is my understanding that you can indeed mix Smoke and Flame in terms of your version of Smoke, but that you are getting this message purely because of that demo version of Flame. I think that the full version should allow you to continue with your Smoke install. Moreover, you can for sure access Smoke projects inside of Flame. I have done so myself. If there happened to be an issue, you could archive in Smoke and open the archive then in Flame? I have some old Smoke stuff in my Flame. 

Btw, you can uninstall Smoke (full) and then install Flame (demo) and then uninstall Flame (demo) and reinstall Smoke (full) and there'll be no damage to projects or access in terms of getting back to your old Smoke stuff whilst you wait on your full Flame.

Oops, just saw this answered by Yann on the Smoke forum and I was wrong. But, as I said, you can easily-peasily uninstall Smoke and install Flame and then reinstall Smoke if you so choose to stay smoking old stuff. But, not only has Smoke not been updated so that it's core services are not being updated, but all the nodes and updates in Flame make Flame a no brainer in terms of updating. If cost were a factor then it would always be Flame Assist as it's core is evolving and it is gaining the odd hand-me-down from Flame. Smoke seems smoked, unless some total reinvention and rebranding or rethinking is taking place, which would be a different product anyway. So, really, say goodbye to Smoke.
