Tooling problem with Autodesk Partmaker

Hello!

I'm very new to PartMaker and i'm having difficulty with getting the tooling information correct on the "Tool data".

I'm using Applitec tools and toolholders and the information provided by Applitec isn't sufficient for Partmaker's demands.

Could somebody please point me in the right direction of programming a tool based on so little information?

Thank you!

Toomas

It sounds like you may find form tool options helpful.

Here is an article outlining the process of creating a custom user-defined tool.

Here is a video showing how to create form tools as well.

Hopefully, this is helpful. If the tool data form isn't sufficient, I would imagine this method would be.

Furthermore, here is an article on creating custom holders from a model.

Thank you for the quick reply!

The problem is, i'm using Applitec tools and their catalogue only gives off a few dimensions for any specific tool.

This might of course be an issue of my incompetence in turning in general.

But i will give the tool drawing a whack and see where i land.

Hi @Anonymous

Have you tried reaching out directly to the manufacturer?  They should be able to supply you better data for building your CAM system.

Yes i did.

Applitec said that this tool database is like a working project for them. It might be there someday.

But other than that they sort of blew me off and didn't understand what i wanted from them.

Guess i'll just have to figure it out by trial and error 🙂

I finally got some 3D STL files for tooling from an Applitec reseller. Now it's only a matter of either loading the tooling in to PartMaker or just measuring them out in Fusion and entering the correct data in to Partmaker.

Thanks for the support!
