Time vortex for Vortex paths at lead-ins

Why does the Vortex path re-cut the area where the lead-in is? The blue arc below is the centerline helix lead-in to the Vortex path, so everything inside it has already been cut...

Hi Jeff,

 

I think the entry trochoidal toolpath which is there although the material is already cleared with helical ramping to make sure that we can start the offset segments in a cleared region and avoid excess engagement when going from one level to the next.

In this case I need to compare these 2 program both with trochoidal toolpath, but the one have cutting toolpaht in the helix area and the second haven't.

Thanks Jacob, the last slide showing that setting the 'Vortex minimum radius' was the solution the issue we were having.

 

With the min radius set the same as, or larger than, the cutter radius the path now ramps into the pocket then moves out from the ramp-in area. When the min radius is set smaller than the cutter radius it will re-cut some, or all, of the area inside the helix ramp, depending on how much smaller the min radius setting is than the cutter radius.
