Solid model tool holder issue

I'm following all the instructions Autodesk has to offer for importing solid models for tool holder. Insert my solid model, create a copy of a tool and paste the solid or the curve into the area as well. Transforming the solid model part to line up with the example pasted. Returning to the tool holdering drawing tab and going solid > then selecting my new solid. The new tool cutter will show up in the preview window but will not save when I hit OK. It always reverts back to the default tool holder.

Hi @andrewg9X5A8

Can you upload the 3d model of the tool holder you are trying to import?

Thanks,

I have the same issue, it just doesn't work when trying to add a model to an existing tool. I suspect it's related to which type of database you use. I have the FC database on an SQL server, how about you?

It saves the tool correctly if you create a new tool and add the model without ever leaving the new tool dialog, so I have just been doing that as a workaround.  PITA though.

Hi @andrewg9X5A8

As @gregorANU4T mentioned in his earlier response.  Is this tool being saved into a local database or to a MS Access database or SQL database?

Thanks,

Pretty sure its a MS database. I can find out for sure tomorrow. Will that cause issues while saving?

Hi @andrewg9X5A8

I am assuming you have no issues saving other tools to your database.  If so, maybe you do not have permissions to save.  Just a thought!

I am sure your IT department can tell you if you have read/write access.

I'm able to import the file as a solid and everything. Its just after i press "ok" after setting my tool as a solid model that it reverts back to the generic tool. Thanks in advance

Yea I was going to ask them tomorrow thank you. It wont replace a solid in a machine design file as well when replacing holders.

Hello

Certainly just a formal error.
Try to open the app with administrator rights.
Then it should work too.

Best regards
