Machine Simulation - define Machine Zero Offset by vise

Hi,

to get a correct machine simulation I have to edit for each part the machine zero offset in the setup properties.

Is there a way to store this information in the vise, so I don´t have to correct this parameter already part for part and it is automatically adjusted, after I´ve added the vise to the part?

Sounds to me like your machine zero is setup wrong on the .md file. I'm going from memory, but I want to say that's set in the 'Top-most table' dialog. Whatever Machine Zero is set there should correlate with the stock axis of any given .fm.

With this in mind, I recommend always setting the machine/table zero to the top center of your table in the .md file, and the stock axis for your parent vise file at the bottom middle of the vise, or wherever you would be physically sticking the vise on the machine.

If you have your .md file, and would like me/anyone else reading this to take a look, please feel free to upload it. Including your vise template .fm file would be helpful as well for testing.

I think this is my single biggest complaint about how simulation is setup. Having to manually position fixtures, relative to the machine zero location is so archaic. Why can't they add constraint tools, to make it more like an assembly? I am constantly using different fixturing, and having to do calculations to figure out what these values need to be set to.
