Hello, i am machining on a 5 axis mill, say a 5 inch square just around the edges using c and x axis so the pallet it turning, everything works great but the cnc program is huge, anybody know how to make the output shorter?

Richard, i am using Featurecam 2020.2, when i put the CNC code in a text file its 151K big, its a long program.

On your milling attributes page do you have arc/line approx. checked? This is one way to shorten your program.

on my milling attributes page i dont see a area for "arc/line" am i missing something?

I dont have that option, what i did was to create geometry in a square and convert it into a curve, so the tool is basically following a line in a square form. since i an machining this on a 5 axis mill and the head wont go past the center of the pallet i have to rotate the pallet or "C" axis to machine the whole square so my code has a x5. c100. f20., Y axis stays on zero.

just go in curve creation

choose curve from curve and go to smooth/ reduced curve,

otherwise your post may need fine tuning!

click on your curve and go to smooth reduce curve and you'll be able to arc/line approx. try that see if it helps. I didn't see  Richards reply but i meant the same.

I think you are correct, its the post. i tried several changes to the curve and nothing worked

look at those settings, this choice generate the shortest codes!
