How is custom insert tool created?

I have a question about custom insert tool of turning.

Please check the attached FM file.

==Feature - groove1==
I created curve [insert] and adapt it the custom insert tool [test1], but the tool insert shape is not same as the curve.
In addition, the gouge occurs.

==Feature - groove1_workaround==
Mirror the curve and move it in the negative Z direction minus the tip radius of the insert, the intended tool is created.

Why does it make the intended tool shape by using such a curve?

The creation logic seems different depending on whether the tool orientation is WS or WN.
As for how to create custom inserts, it is not described in Online Help and detailed logic is not known.

I solved this by my self.

For curves used for custom inserts, it is necessary to draw the tip radius center at the origin.

  • A normal turning tool draws the toolpath at the center of the nose R.
  • When I use a custom insert, the toolpath is drawn at the position of the origin of the curve.

So I can create the intended toolpath by creating the tip radius center at the origin for custom inserts.
