FBX SDK: remove trianlgulation from fbx file

Hello,

 

When I import fbx file (exported from Revit) in to UnReal engine, I see the faces triangulated as shown in the image.

 

Is there a way using FBX SDK to turn off the triangulation? 

 

In Windows 3D Viewer there is an option turn on/off the triangulation mesh visibility.

 

Is this something possible using FBX SDK? your guildance will be valuable.

Hi,

 

the FBX SDK does not provide tools to "un-triangulate" meshes. If triangles are defined (instead of quads) when exporting to the FBX file, there is no way to "undo" this. Also, the FBX SDK does not have "display" functions so it is really the responsabiity of the reading application to offer the option and render the meshes properly. In your case, you probably have a better chance to ask on UnReal  forums if such functionality exists.
