Combining Sanitary service with Vent services with there different button mattin

So I am at the stage where I need sanitary and vent system to be connected so it can give the appropriate takeoff.

but unless I am doing something wrong I have to do them as different services by breaking in-between pipes. If i try try to connected them at point of vent which should give you a tee then vent pipe continues it does not map the tee.

Hello @RidgewayPlumbing

I tried to reach you at the phone # provided but I was not able to.  Is there a good day or time for us to review the information that I was able to find?

 

After looking over your files and touching base with my peers we were able to determine what may be happening regarding your Tee not being mapped per your design line. 

 

You are having this issue because you have 2 different design lines in one system (to be expected as you are drawing a waste and vent system).  See image below, Red is the waste design line, Blue is the vent design line.

As seen in the image above, the "Red" waste line comes from a fixture and empties down, while the "Blue" vent line goes up.  If the vent design line were not connected to the waste design line, then an elbow would populate in this case. Since the waste line and the vent line are not one design line, AutoCAD mep does not know how you would like it to be populated.  If it were one design line (using the line combine method) then the "Tee" will be mapped as one would expect.

At this time, we do not know of a solution for this issue, as design line were not intended to be used to connect two different services.

 

I do have two workarounds that may be of interest. 

 

First if you would like to keep the design lines separate, you are going to have to take off the "Tee" fitting manually, by placing it on the node. 

Or you can tell CADmep to apply a "Tee" fitting to the bend node using the Setup Services folder, as the very last option for Bend - see image below.

The last method is more of a trick, and not a typical workflow method, but I wanted to provide as many opportunities as possible.

It does help knowing that the vent system tees are all backwards so I can change the main to be backward standard thanks.

I'm having this exact same issue trying to connect a vent service design line to a sanitary service design line. Was this issue ever properly resolved? We make sanitary to vent connections throughout our models and this will be a big issue for us. We've just recently started using this software and ran into this almost immediately.

 

Is there a way to connect two separate design lines from two separate services using the same pvc material? To where the sanitary tee would populate?

Ok... But if you were to spool that to be fabricated it would have that extra small piece of sanitary pipe in the top of the san-tee and the vent pipe would be too short correct? That's the conclusion we've come to. 

 

...And without being able to snap the vent pipe into the hub of the sanitary tee manually, that cut piece for fabrication will never be accurate.

I am sorry to say that's as far as I got with them with an answer. Or you make everything the same system for it to work and create two different tee's so it can be redirected in the opposite direction. I am still waiting on answer from autodesk for about 4 months now based on a part that they built that does not work in design line.

By Code:  the vent starts 6 inches above the fixture. Correct me if I am wrong. What you show connects at the Tee.

6" is the minimum distance above the flood level rim that a dry vent is required to rise and the minimum to which a vent can connect. Regardless of the code involved, You wouldn't prefabricate and install a coupling at that random elevation just because of a theoretical change from sanitary to vent. Also, the two services in that case would still not connect with design line.

 

The practical thing to do is to use one solid vent pipe down to the sanitary tee so that it can be spooled / prefabricated and installed properly without a unnecessary coupling. Design line doesn't allow for that connection to be made.
