How to get Educational Software & Troubleshooting Steps

If you are wanting to sign up for the Autodesk Educational Software, or have signed up and are having issues accessing your software, please read the below information.

Getting Access to Educational Software

In May 2020, the Education Program implemented a new verification process for Educational access to products. When signed in & trying to access products & services from the Education Community you'll now be prompted to go through the process below.

  1. You need to be enrolled or employed by a Qualified Educational Institution.
  2. Visit the Get Products page, then select "Get Started" or "Sign-in" to start the verification process. You will need to fill out your Country, Territory or Region, your Educational Role, your Institution type, and your birthday.

  1. You will then be asked to enter your school or university information. Simply start typing and a list of selections will appear.

Ver2.png

  1. After filling out this information, wait for your verification email from [email protected]
  2. To verify that you're eligible to access Autodesk Educational licenses, proof of enrollment or employment needs to be provided & uploaded. You have a limited time to provide the documentation. Once uploaded, your document will be reviewed and you'll receive an email within 48 hours to confirm your status.

Ver3.png

  1. Educational Software includes the current version & 3 versions back
  2. After receiving the approved verification email, return to the Get Products page. It will provide you with all the information you need to download, install & activate, you will also receive an email containing your Serial# & product key. This information will appear in your Autodesk account in 24-72hrs.

There is no need to manually activate newer versions of Autodesk products. They are activated online automatically, so a good internet connection is required.

Common Questions about signing up:

What kind of document(s) do I upload if asked? You'll need to upload school-issued documentation that shows your:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • School name
  • Date showing current enrollment

Please note that we will be reviewing the date of enrollment, not the print date or view date of your document(s). For example, your transcript may have been printed yesterday, but it shows that your most recent enrollment in classes was a previous term. Future terms are also not eligible, so acceptance letters unfortunately are not proof you are currently enrolled.

I am home-schooled. Am I eligible for the Autodesk Education plan?  Yes, if you meet the criteria for home-school access. Visit the Autodesk Education Community, choose a software title, and create an Autodesk account. When prompted to choose “Institution type” select the option that is the most relevant to your situation. Once your email address has been verified, you will be required to complete your education profile. When asked for the name of your educational institution, type “Home” in the field and then select “Home School (Any)” from the drop-down list. Proceed to complete your profile and you will then be asked to check your information is correct. Review it and then click the “Verify” button. You will then be asked to upload documentary proof to confirm your home school status. The document must show your first and last name, the name of the home school or home school association and be dated within the last three months. Official letters from curriculum providers or local school districts are acceptable.

I have an existing 1-year or 3-year individual Educational license for an Autodesk product, and it is due to expire/has expired. What do I do? Visit the Autodesk Education Community, sign in to your account, and if prompted confirm your eligibility for free educational access to Autodesk products and services. Then you can access a new subscription for your chosen software product through the Autodesk Education plan.

I’m waiting for my eligibility for free educational access to Autodesk products and services to be confirmed. How can I access Autodesk software in the meantime? We thank you for your patience and trust that your eligibility status will be determined shortly. If you are over 18 and have an urgent need for immediate access to Autodesk® software, you may consider accessing a free 30-day trial

I was deemed ineligible for free educational access to Autodesk software and services, but I believe there has been a mistake. Who can I contact to resolve this? Please contact SheerID, our verification service provider, at [email protected] for assistance. They will be happy to help.

If you have successfully submitted your information and still having access issues:

Haven’t received approval from SheerID? Remember, verification can take up to 48 hours. SheerID will notify you if they need more information. Please make sure to check your SPAM filter as we are seeing reports of the notification being directed there.

You can check on your status if it has been more than 48 hours by reaching out to SheerID Support.

It's been more than 48 hours, you've checked your SPAM filter, and there's still no email from SheerID: Reach out to SheerID support, and make sure to review the SheerID Faq's in the meantime: https://verify.sheerid.com/autodesk-student-faq/

When trying to confirm my eligibility for educational access to Autodesk products and services, I couldn’t find my educational institution in the drop-down list provided. What should I do? If your educational institution is not listed, please complete the “Request to add school” online form. This will initiate a manual vetting process and, if approved, the school will be added to the Qualified Educational Institution list, typically within seven days. Please return to the Autodesk Education Community after seven days to determine if your educational institution has been approved and added to the school list.

I’ve been asked to provide additional documentation to confirm my eligibility for educational access to Autodesk products and services. How long will it take? Timeframes vary. Some general guidelines for document review are:

  • Customers in the United States: Typically takes approximately 20 minutes
  • Customers outside the United States: Typically, within 48 hours, but may take longer.

Note: Be sure to check your email junk/spam folder

Having issues downloading once you have been verified? First, review the download and installation help articles. Try switching the method that you are downloading with. Still having issues? Check your system requirements. If all is good there, post to the Installation and Licensing Forum for community based help, remembering to include as many details as possible (OS, product, version, error messages, etc.) or reach out to Education Support.

Still have questions or issues? For any account issues, contact Education Support. For SheerID verification issues, contact SheerID Student Support. For technical support or troubleshooting assistance, you can either contact the Education Support team or post to the appropriate Installation and Licensing or Product forum.

Hi, Adam,

I'm sorry. We do use GSuite and like it very much, but we do not access
our Autodesk software that way.

We are using Fusion 360 and the app has to be downloaded onto each laptop
for each user that needs it. (I have laptops with IED/POE/AE accounts and
would have to download Fusion 360 for each account (3 times) in the updated
Windows 10 environment. Right now only my IED students have Fusion loaded.)

Getting student accounts has been a huge headache. I don't know how your
students could create accounts without emails because that is how my
students login to their Autodesk accounts. You can easily create student
emails for them in GSuite - maybe make an exception for your engineering
students?

I would contact Autodesk directly:
https://www.autodesk.com/education/support/edu-contact-us-form (it can
take weeks for them to respond).

Good evening! I used to have an educational licence for AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks, but the licences expired. I understood that I have to refresh my profile, specially about an enrollment on a qualified educational institution. But what if I am not enrolled on one of theses courses? Recently I finished the Cert Prep for Autodesk Certified Professional: Revit for Architectural Design (Autodesk Design Academy). I am going to apply for the ACP Revit Arch. I still have to review some topics before the test, but now the software does not allow me to study anymore (without the licence, it closes immediately). At the company I work, we do not need these softwares (Tarkett is a floor covering manufacturer), so I don't want the licences for professional use. Could you please help me with this? @amanda.k @Tiana_Y

Hi @Anonymous ! How are you doing?

Thank you for your answer, but it did not help me.

Yesterday I read the entire thread.

I've noticed that I'm not eligible for the Student Licence but, as I was enrolled at a Autodesk Prep Course, and I still need to study for the test, maybe @amanda.k or @Tiana_Y could help me with this.

Now I had to stop my studies for the ACP test, maybe I have to cancel my plans. ☹️

Good evening for everyone!

it says here:

  1. You need to be enrolled or employed by a Qualified Educational Institution.

an Autodesk prep course is not an educational institution

nothing Autodesk is going to do it clearly states who qualifies for a license

@Anonymous , thank you for trying to help, but I don't think you could do something in this case.

I consider that Autodesk Design Academy could/should be included on the list of Qualified Educational Institution.

That's why I insist on speaking with one of those responsible for this topic here( @amanda.k and/or @Tiana_Y ).

It doesn't make sense for me not to be eligible, even though I am enrolled in an official Autodesk course, preparing for an official Autodesk certification test.

I don't think you should spend your time trying to solve my question.

Thank you very much! Have a great evening!

this is a public forum anyone can respond

if you want a more direct way to reach Autodesk you can here: https://www.autodesk.com/education/support/edu-contact-us-form

like what was said above the Design Academy is not considered an Educational Institution

A “qualified educational institution” is an educational institution that has been accredited by an authorized governmental agency within its applicable local, state, provincial, federal, or national government and has the primary purpose of teaching its enrolled students. The software can be used for learning, teaching, training, research, and development that are part of the instructional functions performed by the educational institution.

Since the design academy is free to anyone that would mean everybody would have access to a student license which is why Autodesk implemented a verfication process now for student licenses

Hi eduardalott,

@Ryan713 is correct (thanks Ryan!) that the Autodesk Design Academy, while very helpful and free to enroll in, is not an accredited academic institution. When reviewing this article, it states "A “qualified educational institution” is an educational institution that has been accredited by an authorized governmental agency within its applicable local, state, provincial, federal, or national government and has the primary purpose of teaching its enrolled students.".

I understand that you think that it should count towards the free software, so I would suggest reaching out to the Autodesk Design Academy Team as they may have further suggestions for you as you continue to learn how to use Autodesk software.

Thank you!

Hi, @DarrenP ! Thank you for your help!

Of course anyone can respond here, that's why I said "should" instead of "can"! 😉

I was really worried about spending @Anonymous 's time.

Thanks for suggesting the direct way of speaking with Autodesk, and I am also grateful to @amanda.k for her idea of getting in touch directly with the Design Academy team.

Best regards!

Hello -- On Dec. 8, 2020, I successfully installed the flame 2021 education version.  However, when I go to launch the program, after signing in, the program hangs up with a blank white page that says sign in at top.  I have been on the AVA chat with for the last couple weeks to no avail.  I have an open case, but was sent to this forum for help.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times with various versions :  2021, 2020, & 2019.  My firewall is off, my system requirements are met.  I never received a license # because I was told that it is not necessary any more - the autodesk sign in would do it, but it doesn't.  Is there anyone who can help me with this issue?

Yes, but after I sign in Autodesk, the verification prompt does not showed up. The website allowed me to download the 2021 version without asking for my eligibility, but then when I sign in from the AutoCad's license window, my student license does not work. Instead, AutoCad ask me for either start a free trial or buy a subscription.

Also, I did not received any email from [email protected], even in the Spam folder.

Hi,

I have got a single-user-licence, but I need to download the version for "class/lab" which is even though I am supposed to be eligible as a person and school not possible.

I am the IT administrator at my school. What do I have to do to change this?

Thanks in advance

Leopold
