If you are wanting to sign up for the Autodesk Educational Software, or have signed up and are having issues accessing your software, please read the below information.

Getting Access to Educational Software

In May 2020, the Education Program implemented a new verification process for Educational access to products. When signed in & trying to access products & services from the Education Community you'll now be prompted to go through the process below.

  1. You need to be enrolled or employed by a Qualified Educational Institution.
  2. Visit the Get Products page, then select "Get Started" or "Sign-in" to start the verification process. You will need to fill out your Country, Territory or Region, your Educational Role, your Institution type, and your birthday.

Ver1.png

  1. You will then be asked to enter your school or university information. Simply start typing and a list of selections will appear.

Ver2.png

  1. After filling out this information, wait for your verification email from Verify@SheerID.com
  2. To verify that you're eligible to access Autodesk Educational licenses, proof of enrollment or employment needs to be provided & uploaded. You have a limited time to provide the documentation. Once uploaded, your document will be reviewed and you'll receive an email within 48 hours to confirm your status.

Ver3.png

  1. Educational Software includes the current version & 3 versions back
  2. After receiving the approved verification email, return to the Get Products page. It will provide you with all the information you need to download, install & activate, you will also receive an email containing your Serial# & product key. This information will appear in your Autodesk account in 24-72hrs.

There is no need to manually activate newer versions of Autodesk products. They are activated online automatically, so a good internet connection is required.

Common Questions about signing up:

What kind of document(s) do I upload if asked? You'll need to upload school-issued documentation that shows your:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • School name
  • Date showing current enrollment

Please note that we will be reviewing the date of enrollment, not the print date or view date of your document(s). For example, your transcript may have been printed yesterday, but it shows that your most recent enrollment in classes was a previous term. Future terms are also not eligible, so acceptance letters unfortunately are not proof you are currently enrolled.

I am home-schooled. Am I eligible for the Autodesk Education plan?  Yes, if you meet the criteria for home-school access. Visit the Autodesk Education Community, choose a software title, and create an Autodesk account. When prompted to choose “Institution type” select the option that is the most relevant to your situation. Once your email address has been verified, you will be required to complete your education profile. When asked for the name of your educational institution, type “Home” in the field and then select “Home School (Any)” from the drop-down list. Proceed to complete your profile and you will then be asked to check your information is correct. Review it and then click the “Verify” button. You will then be asked to upload documentary proof to confirm your home school status. The document must show your first and last name, the name of the home school or home school association and be dated within the last three months. Official letters from curriculum providers or local school districts are acceptable.

I have an existing 1-year or 3-year individual Educational license for an Autodesk product, and it is due to expire/has expired. What do I do? Visit the Autodesk Education Community, sign in to your account, and if prompted confirm your eligibility for free educational access to Autodesk products and services. Then you can access a new subscription for your chosen software product through the Autodesk Education plan.

I’m waiting for my eligibility for free educational access to Autodesk products and services to be confirmed. How can I access Autodesk software in the meantime? We thank you for your patience and trust that your eligibility status will be determined shortly. If you are over 18 and have an urgent need for immediate access to Autodesk® software, you may consider accessing a free 30-day trial

I was deemed ineligible for free educational access to Autodesk software and services, but I believe there has been a mistake. Who can I contact to resolve this? Please contact SheerID, our verification service provider, at customerservice@sheerID.com for assistance. They will be happy to help.

If you have successfully submitted your information and still having access issues:

Haven’t received approval from SheerID? Remember, verification can take up to 48 hours. SheerID will notify you if they need more information. Please make sure to check your SPAM filter as we are seeing reports of the notification being directed there.

You can check on your status if it has been more than 48 hours by reaching out to SheerID Support.

It's been more than 48 hours, you've checked your SPAM filter, and there's still no email from SheerID: Reach out to SheerID support, and make sure to review the SheerID Faq's in the meantime: https://verify.sheerid.com/autodesk-student-faq/

When trying to confirm my eligibility for educational access to Autodesk products and services, I couldn’t find my educational institution in the drop-down list provided. What should I do? If your educational institution is not listed, please complete the “Request to add school” online form. This will initiate a manual vetting process and, if approved, the school will be added to the Qualified Educational Institution list, typically within seven days. Please return to the Autodesk Education Community after seven days to determine if your educational institution has been approved and added to the school list.

I’ve been asked to provide additional documentation to confirm my eligibility for educational access to Autodesk products and services. How long will it take? Timeframes vary. Some general guidelines for document review are:

  • Customers in the United States: Typically takes approximately 20 minutes
  • Customers outside the United States: Typically, within 48 hours, but may take longer.

Note: Be sure to check your email junk/spam folder

Having issues downloading once you have been verified? First, review the download and installation help articles. Try switching the method that you are downloading with. Still having issues? Check your system requirements. If all is good there, post to the Installation and Licensing Forum for community based help, remembering to include as many details as possible (OS, product, version, error messages, etc.) or reach out to Education Support.

Still have questions or issues? For any account issues, contact Education Support. For SheerID verification issues, contact SheerID Student Support. For technical support or troubleshooting assistance, you can either contact the Education Support team or post to the appropriate Installation and Licensing or Product forum.

No of course not they have this exact same problem every single year trying to renew an educational licence. It really doesn't need to be so difficult.

What exactly is the issue? Will you be moving to a more robust verification system in the future?

Hi @CarlConquilla,

The Education Verification System is constantly under review in collaboration with our support and engineering teams. Unfortunately, it's a challenging system due to the global nature of our Education Community, which means we can face issues even after we release updates. This becomes more apparent in September when the academic year starts as more Students and educators renew than at any other time period.

I'm still a Student (by day), so I'm aware of the challenges that the verification process can cause, which is also why I've been supporting the development of a Student Installation & Licensing board to help bring better data to our teams to drive improvement.

I have a student who is verified and has a one year subscription but when she goes to download the software it still says she needs to be confirmed.

I am not sure how to proceed unless I just have her make another account

Hi,

A few days ago I submitted the educational access form for myself as a high school student.

According to instruction on the website I uploaded the scan of my Student ID containing photo, first name, last name, school name, etc.).

On December 25th I received an answer from Autodesk with the following info:

"Thanks for submitting your documentation. Unfortunately, we’ve been unable to confirm your eligibility for educational access to Autodesk products. During the review process we found: MISMATCH_PERSON_LAST_NAME

You can try again by uploading another document. Examples of accepted documents include a school transcript, school ID (photo not required), or authorization letter.

My first name and last name (MISMATCH_PERSON_LAST_NAME??) are placed on the Student ID and they match the Autodesk account name I used to submit the form.

Can you explain what should I do now?

Hi @olek_d,

Is the name on your student ID formatted Firstname Lastname or Lastname Firstname?

That is the only thought that comes to mind beyond any typos/errors - can you make sure the name on your account matches up exactly with what is on the ID?

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions,

All the best

Hi @LeoWarren-EDU,

Thanks for your answer. Yes the name on my student ID is formatted first_name last_name. It is both hand-written and placed by a printer in the same form and order.

Can you please check that based on my account name?

Regards.

Edit: I just PMd you giving my account name.

Happy manic Monday @amanda.k

Thanks already for your time and input here:)

My situation is this, hope you can help...

I'm running MacBook Pro Intel based laptop, have been using AutoCad educational access since 2021 when I started as an educator/course developer.  I used the prompt to download and install AutoCad 2024 for Mac and since have not been able to use the program.  I keep getting this message.

"Product License - Out of Time

License checkout timed out. What do you want to do?

AutoCAD will be closed down."

Is there an additional verification that needs to be made?  I have been renewed and approved until Nov 2024.

I just noticed that my account is approved in the US and I live and teach in Canada, is that the issue??

Thanks again for any help you can give me:)

Nathan (Betzy)

Hi @Nathan_Betts,

Everything looks good from an account side, so it's probably just the licensing service on your computer. Can you try the steps and checks outlined in this article

Please let me know if you have any issues or questions,

Unable to restart access to educational license.

I have input all information correctly as provided by my university, and receive the following message at the top of the page: "Unfortunately the maximum number of verification attempts was reached and we were unable to confirm your eligibility for educational access to Autodesk products. Please contact support if you need to try again."

I am using this software for projects, and have done everything asked of me as a general user.

What am I doing wrong, and what can be done?
