How do I auto-update the fusion 360 Lab edition software

The fusion 360 update very often, is there a way for us to update the software automatically so that we don't have to manually update all the PCs one by one?  I have tried a few recommended way but not successful.  I appreciate if anyone could help.  Thank you.

Hi Teo,

Thanks for posting your question. If you're running Windows computers, you can run a script that will check for updates everyday and install them at a time you designate. Here is a link to the set-up instructions - see section 6 (page 14).

Please let me know if this is what you're looking for.
Thanks,

-Dan

Originally I was given access to school computers and I did my own Lab updates. We finally "almost" had it automated with IT. But that person moved on.   So new IT person gets the email notice that a new version is coming. then he does the update for us.  he has a system .

I would like to hear from other schools if they have that figured out.  Unlike other cad software Fusion updates a lot - instead of annual Solidworks or 3x a year like MasterCam.   the updates are cool but I sometimes wish they would spread the schedule out so us lab installs can be in sync more.   I know they say 6-8 weeks but I just saw a Jan and  feb update already.   I think ever 8-12 weeks instead of 6-8 unless its a critical need.

Dan can you post the link to get email notification of up coming update. I get those so I am aware and also IT gets the same so they know whats coming. If you are aware and can't get the auto update to work - this is the next best thing

Hi Ed,

Here is the link to the form to notified about for Fusion 360’s updates. To help you plan for the updates, you'll receive an email approximately one week before the scheduled update alerting you of the scheduled update, and an email when the update is available. I'll also post information to this forum.

Take care.

Our labs are locked down so that there can only be updates when the user is logged in as an ADMIN, fortunately I was able to have IT give us an admin password (for the student network only), we then use INSIGHT to update all the computers from the teachers station at the same time.  It's still work but it's fairly painless once you get used to it.

Is there also an auto update process for Mac Labs? I noticed this references PC based only.

Thanks,

J

Hi @jrkrutsch258

Thanks for posting the question. Unfortunately, there is no script to auto-update Fusion 360 for Mac labs.
