Sharing Managed Libraries

I am currently working with a team where we would share a library between team members using Dropbox. When moving the library to being a managed library to integrate in all of the 3-D models I lost the ability to share access to the library with other team members. I tried to have them import the urn that was generated when moving the library to the cloud, but that does not work. I am wondering if there is a way to share a managed library among people that are not using the same Eagle license. Would be great to have support for this, since it makes it difficult for people to work on the same schematic when libraries are dependent on who has eagle open.

Thanks in advance!

It’s been in development for over a year and we constantly hear that the release is close and yet it never materializes.

We switched to Altium more than half a year ago and as annoying as it is for my mechatronics engineer to boot into Windows for that, that’s nothing compared with the original managed libraries misfire destroying our ability to work on Eagle projects together

Any news on the release date? It's been yet another month. Desperately looking for this feature.

Allow me to pre-empt their post:
Hi nicolas.loebbert,
We know you've been looking for this feature, and we're working hard on it! We should be coming out with something soon, so stay tuned!

Hi @bchurwitz,

That's an excellent impression of me and I appreciate the initiative. However, you are mistaken today. The reality is:

THE SHARING OF MANAGED LIBRARIES IS POSSIBLE EFFECTIVE TODAY!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!

We have released EAGLE 9.5.0 today and with it comes the ability to share managed libraries through a mechanism we call.... MANAGED FOLDERS! We'll be releasing a video shortly detailing how it works. If you have used library.io before it will be very simple.

I have been waiting a long time to write this and it feels good.

Let me know if you guys have any questions. Go check out library.io I'm sure most of you will see get the hang of it in like 10 seconds.

Best Regards,
Jorge Garcia

Holy moly! I am thrilled to be wrong, though I will withhold judgment until I actually play around with the feature.

Hi Jorge,

that's good news!

But how can I move existing libs to another folder?

Kind regards

Paul

Hi Jorge,

found it.

In Eagel right click on the lib and click on "Copy to another managed folder"

That is a good news ! Thank you very much for the job.

Next step is providing a nice tuto or process for the following use case :

I have created a new schematics with components I have imported in my managed folder. I want to transfer the design to a subcontractor who will do the routing and then reimport the schematic and layout in my design.

But maybe it already exists...

Best regards.

Frederic

Mr. Garcia,

I have a managed library that I am using with a college, however he has control of it. Now that I have my company accounts setup, I want to move this under my control. What is the easiest way to accomplish this?

Hi @diarente,

I hope you're doing well. Basically, you want to copy the library to your personal managed folder. This can be done from the EAGLE control panel. Right click on the library you wish to copy and just select the copy to managed folder option. Copy it to your personal or company managed folder.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi, i'm sorry for doing this on an old ask, but it's relevant.

So our libraries are local (on the network) and shared to the different users.

We haven't been able to figure out how to create new 3D parts that can be stored on the network folder.

On that same note, if i open another user's design, i can't open his 3D designed parts for editing, it says it cannot find the library, even though it's shared through library.io

I feel we need someone to show us this in person, as we're losing the ability to check each other's work.
