Questions about importing gerber files.

Not applicable

I have the following files which I believe are from Altium. When I import anything I get a warning "no match found for file extension. Defaulting to top." So I have been manually assigning them layers:

.arp  - aperture report?

.drr - drill report?

.gbl - 16. Bottom

.gbo - 22. bPlace

.gbs - 30. bStop

.gko - Keep Out?

.gtl - 1. Top

.gto - 21. tPlace

.gts - 24. tStop

.rep - ???

.txt - ???

I want to convert these to g-code.

I guess my questions are:

Do I have to import every layer or just the GTL/GBL?

How do I import the other files? What layers do I assign to them?

How do I import the drill information?

I'm using Eagle 9.2.2

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're having a great day. Depending on what you want to do you may be able to just import the GTL/GBL files. If the board has through hole parts you would want to figure out which one of these is the drill file, even though it can't be imported into EAGLE.

There is no way to import Excellon data into EAGLE currently so you would only be able to import DXF or try to get the data redrawn in Fusion 360.

That's all I can recommend to do.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I ended up using FlatCAM for converting them to gcode and that seems to have worked. I have only milled one of the files, but so far so good.
