Poor font rendering

Every since I started using Eagle a few months ago I have never been satisfied with the quality of how fonts and drawings on schematics and boards are rendered. Fonts seem so jagged and primitive, drawings too. Looking at the Eagle YouTube videos that Autodesk publishes, the fonts always look so crisp and clear.

I can't imagine that is has anything to do with my system - Intel i5-6600K, 16GB memory, NVIDIA GTX 1070 with the latest drivers. My monitor is an standard HD Asus monitor, 1920 x 1080. Windows 10 Pro Version 10.0.17134.

I've looked through the form for answers and have tried all the solutions that I found, enable/disable High DPI, enable/disable auto scale factor. Nothing makes a difference.

Below is a sample of what I see. I'm running the latest version of Eagle standard 9.2.1

Hi @infinite.machinery,

I'm thinking you are probably OK but your board is just using the old uglier vector font. Try changing your font to proportional on some of these parts just as a test. Does it look crisper?

If it does then you just have to disable to old vector font. Go to options > User interface and uncheck the Keep legacy vector font in this drawing option. It should look much better.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I tried your suggestion, but nothing changed. Keep legacy vector font has always been unchecked in my settings.

The legacy vector font is definitely worse looking here (I'm using 9.2.1 on MacOS), but even the new one looks kind of bad on screen due to the lack of proper High-DPI graphics in the drawings. The UI looks good as of a few versions ago, but AFAIK full-res drawings are still to come (I hope). Someone please correct me if this should be working already!

Hi Guys,

Yes we are still working on getting these things sorted. Bear with us, in the meantime you can go to options > user interface and try different combinations of the HDPI settings sometimes they help and sometimes they don't. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

You're not crazy, and it's not just fonts - their 2D rendering is just really, REALLY bad right now on high density displays.

I'm running Eagle 9.5.2 now and upgraded to a 1440p monitor. Schematic and board display is now much improved.
