Internal ground plane connection to SMD part.

Anonymous
Not applicable

using eagle V7.2 on windows 10.

I have a Top side SMD part with a GND pin connected to my schematic GND net, I created a polygon on the bottom side of the PCB and named it GND.

when selected, it and the SMD ground pin highlight, but I see no connection to the bottom polygon on the board layout after ratnest is done.

how do I connect this pin on the top to the polygon on the bottom?

Accepted solution

Hello,

You need to add a via to get to the bottom side.

VIA 'GND'

Then go into ROUTE mode and route the GND pin of the IC to the via.

Best Regards,
