Installed Eagle 8.1.1 and crashes upon opening

I just installed Eagle 8.1.1 and it crashes upon opening. I reinstalled Microsoft Visual C++ both x64 and x86. I checked for updates on both windows 7 and my video card and all are up to date. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium edition, Service Pack 1 with a 64-bit Operating System, and an Intel Core i7 processor with a 2.80 GHz CPU and 12.0 GB RAM. My video card is a AMD Radeon HD 5500 Series. I also tried reinstalling Eagle into the default directory with no change. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello @Anonymous,

Thanks for participating on our forums. Thank you for listing everything you have already tried, since that saves me some guesswork. Have you tried the eagle_opengl_SW.bat file that is in EAGLE's installation directory? You didn't mention it.

Try double clicking that file to start EAGLE, does it work?

The other thing you could check is to see if you have any Lavasoft Software on your computer, it is known to interfere with EAGLE's operation.

Please accept as solution if my post fully resolves or you issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Jorje

Thanks for the reply. I started Eagle via the bat file as you suggested and I got as far as the signin and it went to a white screen. I checked and I have no Lavasoft Software on my PC.

Eagle uses Openid and other stuff to authenticate your computer, when Eagle is unable to run those, you won't be able to log in.

That said, access to several web services and ports must be alowed.

Hi Diane,

The next thing to try then would be to update your graphics drivers, in some occasions this has helped. If this doesn't work, then please send me a direct message because then we have a few other things we can try, but we have to use internal links that I can't post publicly.

As far as you know, are you subject to any IT restrictions? or is this a home computer?

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,
