Trying to generate PCB parts, the 3d models available are not enough.
In my case I'm trying to 3D models, as for a Bourns Square Trimpot 3296 or the Bourns Potentiometer Series PTD90, for example.
I have to generate or draw many components not available in the library, such as Headphone jacks, either 1/4"or 3.5mm, Fuse holders, toggle switches, push button switches, RCA jacks, DC jacks…
While I can easily draw 2D models, the 3d is subjected to web's Package generator limited to some semiconductors only.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Alfredo,
For parts which are not available as 3D parts in the package generator you'll need to import STEP files for the 3D models. You can often get these from component manufacturers or you can use 3D CAD tools such as Fusion360 and draw them yourself and export them as STEP. Then you'll need to create your PCB footprint in a managed library and them associate it with the imported STEP file. I can't tell you the exact procedure as I don't use managed libraries. I'm hoping they'll add the ability to associate 3D packages to footprints in proper eagle libraries soon....
Best Regards,
Rachael

Dear Rachael, thanks a lot for your answer.
I got into your answer and I was able to find STEP files from Manufacturers, e.g. Switchcraft and Neutrik.
However, I was not able to load those STEP files in to the Library. I was able to load local packages and to generate them with the package generator, which is quick and easy but limited in options of the myriad of electronic components, such as Radial Caps, transformers, etc. I was also able to load them into library.io.
My next question is how to load this STEP files into the library? Either Managed or not?
Thanks in advance for your answer, Alfredo
