Help for an absolute newbie - problem following tutorial

Hello everyone,

I am an absolute newbie regarding EAGLE, electronics, PCB or anything related.

I was following a tutorial on YouTube and encountered some problems.

Link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEdnImVezi8&ab_channel=AutodeskFusion

Of course, it would make sense to ask the question under the video (which I will do as well) but I cannot provide images there which is helpful for understanding my problem and maybe also finding a solution.

I was following the tutorial step by step.

First, an electrical wiring diagram was created which you can see at approximately 0:35 into the video (I was also following the previous tutorial therefore).

At approximately 2:30 the creator of the tutorial switched to the PCB document and placed all components on the PCB.

This is when I noticed that the "connections" between the different components were different for me although I followed the tutorial and the diagrams looked basically the same.

I don't know what I did wrong and how to fix it as the diagrams look the same.

Hi @d_ullrichJ4C8L ,

You didn't do anything wrong. That ratnest algorithm is always looking for shortest path so slight variations in placement or component rotation will cause the airwires to go to different spots . Rest assured all of the connections are defined correctly. As a quick check rotate your C1 capacitor 180 degrees. You'll see that the airwires now line up with the design in the video. It is not required that the ratsnest always be identical for layouts derived from the same schematic.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Best Regards,
