Footprint->Board errors? (Beginner)

I am designing a PCB that receives a signal via a fiber optic transceiver. I was not able to find a pre-defined footprint for my component, so I created the package myself. The footprint is exactly to scale according to the datasheet, but when I add the component to my board, the pin sizes have changed and are overlapping. Is there anyway around this? Screenshots for reference:

Hi @mtkrauss,

I hope you're doing well. This is the annular ring functionality, it often catches new users by surprise. We are working on making it's behavior more obvious so that's users don't get surprised. See this article for more information on how to adjust the annular ring settings so that the pads you designed in the library get respected.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
