Eagle Managed Libraries pros & cons

I have been reading a lot of posts in this forum but still have questions about managed libraries.

Can some one explain the managed library concept and why I would use?  

Does it still not work in  a team environment?

is a managed library the ONLY way to add 3D models to my parts library?

From everything I have read so far, it sounds like the managed library concept has quite a ways to go before it is very useful.

I hope you're doing well. Just to answer your questions directly, managed libraries still don't work in a team environment although we are very close to having that done. They are currently(big emphasis here) the only way to add 3D models to the part library.

The managed library is the glue that links the EAGLE design to Fusion360, it will also enable true library collaboration once the team environment is setup. Those are going to be the main reasons to use a managed library over a plain library.
