Hi,

I am pretty sure that eagle was running on my machine. After long time I tried again but it is not starting up again.

So I deleted ~/EAGLE  ~/.local/share/Eagle/ and the folder of eagle, downloaded the newest Version from here  https://www.autodesk.com/eagle-download-lin

But never the less, its not coming up:

./eagle

The error messages indicate that some OpenGL libraries are missing. You can try installing them with the following commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-glx

You can also consider switching to other online software. https://www.theengineeringprojects.com/2022/11/top-online-software-used-for-pcb-designing.html

This is what chatgpt suggests about it. Maybe it helps you:

The errors you are encountering suggest that the necessary drivers for your graphics card are not correctly installed or located. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve these issues on a Linux system:

Step 1: Install Mesa Drivers

First, ensure that the Mesa drivers are installed. Open a terminal and run the following commands:

bash
Code kopieren
sudo apt update sudo apt install --reinstall mesa-utils mesa-vdpau-drivers mesa-va-drivers

Step 2: Install AMD Drivers

Since the errors are related to radeonsi, which is for AMD GPUs, you might need to install the appropriate AMD drivers. Run:

bash
Code kopieren
sudo apt update sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu

Step 3: Verify the Installation

Check if the drivers are properly installed:

bash
Code kopieren
glxinfo | grep "OpenGL renderer"

Step 4: Create Symlinks (if necessary)

If the drivers are installed but the paths are incorrect, you might need to create symlinks. For example:

bash
Code kopieren
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/radeonsi_dri.so /usr/lib/dri/radeonsi_dri.so sudo ln -s /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/swrast_dri.so /usr/lib/dri/swrast_dri.so

Step 5: Reconfigure Graphics

Reconfigure the graphics settings and regenerate the configuration files:

bash
Code kopieren
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Step 6: Reboot

Finally, reboot your system to apply all changes:

bash
Code kopieren
sudo reboot

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the libGL errors and ensure that the necessary graphics drivers are correctly installed and configured on your system.

There may be a problem with the licence or the software got corrupted. I hope the Autodesk team will come forward to assist. @jorge_garcia

That is interessting, because in your logs provided it clearly says "radeon".

Have you switched from an AMD/ATI to NVidia lately?

Maybe forgot to uninstall the old drivers?

Since I can not start the application, I can not login and therefore there should not be a problem with the licence right?

No, I did not upgrade. I use a AMD CPU (7950X) that should have a integrated GPU, maby this causes a conflict?

Btw: I can find the swrast_dri.so and the radeonsi_dri.so, but they are located under /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/, and in the logs, it says, that it searches in  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri:\$${ORIGIN}/dri:/usr/lib/dri, and google gives me the hint that i can specify the path with LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH. This changes they logput but, but it is still crashing:

Additionally, I install a fresh ubuntu  (22.04) as a vm in kvm (same host) It gives the exact same behavior. Can it just be a incompatibility with newer packages and the one expected by eagle?

Hello @ms_e20accdf1,

I hope you're doing well. I've asked QA to investigate to see if we can reproduce the issue you are seeing.

The we'll go from there. You mentioned going into a vm, did you make sure the vm has access to all of the computer peripherals and an open internet connection. If you have an additional linux machine available that is not a vm this might help isolate the issue.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do.

Hi Jorge,

thank you very much for taking a look. I tested also on my laptop ubuntu 24.04 (latest LTS). Here i experience the same result.

I also want to mention that I create an additional vm on my original host that run Windows 11 (also on kvm). Here eagle runs without any issue. The other ubuntu VM had a working internet connection. I am not really sure what you mean by "all of the computer peripherals". I guess you relate to the GPU, I did not pass-through the graphic card. I use the QXL video emulator (that is the default one).

If it help I could provide the libvirt xml dump of the vm/domain.

Hi @ms_e20accdf1,

I hope you're doing well. The developers got back to me, here is there advice

"looks like it is getting hard for Eagle to run on Ubuntu 24.04, because the shared libraries it expects to be there have evolved  and are not always backwards compatible. A solution would be to run Eagle in a VM with an older version of Ubuntu."

We know EAGLE runs on Ubuntu 22, you could setup a VM with the Ubuntu 22 LTS release and that would solve the issue.

This was the best they could give me, if a better option comes up I'll report back.
