Eagle 8.1.1 randomly asks for access credentials

I feel very uncomfortable with this issue: often I open Eagle and I'm asked to re-input username and password, even if the "Remember me" checkbox is checked. I've been asked to re-input those data at least 5 times in last week. This is very annoying! Sometimes I close Eagle and then I re-open it after few minutes: almost every time I'm asked to login AGAIN.

I'm using:

- Eagle Standard 8.1.1 licensed until feb 2018

- Windows 7 64 bit

Thanks to anybody could give me any hint to understand (and possibly solve) this annoyance.

The same happns to me on this website.
On Debian, I have to input the name, password and internet connection EVERY TIME (at least after new computer restart).
After I have no internet connection, it will be impossible to run eagle. I don't suffer from masochism, so I can't run KiCAD.

Hi Jorge,

I really appreciate your comment.

I think Eagle made a giant leap since it has been took over by Autodesk. Last improvements made my work a little easier and faster. Even if I don't like too much the licensing plan, even if I don't like shortcut keys management, even if I don't love to move wires on layout one by one instead of grouping and moving them with automatic path recalculation, even if I definitely hate the lack of fixed groups of objects, even if I yell towards the screen each time I'm asked to login... yes, I believe Eagle is on the right path to become my favourite ECAD.

So, I'm looking forward to seeing which marvel the next release will bring to us.

Thank you very much, best regards.

This made me laugh 😄 I know what you mean, although EAGLE for me is the only ECAD tool which doesn't make me shout at the screen. Several other very expensive equivalents I have used (and still do sometimes) make me glad I work from home so nobody can hear me! 😄

Best Regards,

Rachael

Mamma mia!

I hope that he dev team notices that you independently mentioned management of many independent selected groups!

Because of the keyboard management across win/mac/linux, I think Ctrl-1 to 0 could be 10 groups quick set and Ctrl-Shift-0 to ..9 could be the group recall.

Rachael wanted these groups also to be displayed on a floating window, where you could do more detailed management, but I'm using the group function to move things around.

Did I? I'm not sure that was what I intended if that's how it came across.

What I would like is groups which work with Ctrl+G to groups and Ctrl+Shift+G to ungroup in the same way lots of 2D drawing packages work. This will allow completely arbitrary groupings to be manipulated (moved, rotated, mirrored, etc) easily.

CTRL+G could be a great relief. I often make datasheets for my products with CorelDraw which has CTRL+G since first editions. I started using version 2 in 1992 and this is the first shortcut I learned and loved.

And yes, Rachael, groups should be autonomous forms of life, each one individually manageable according to your needs. And they should persist even after save, close and re-open projects. But, alas, this thread doesn't concern this topic, and I guess this discussion makes sense if opened in another post (I'm imagining the moderator coming to tap me with a wand 😄 ). By the way, I don't even know if this forum has the purpose of listening to users' requests and suggestions.

Regards and thanks for this enjoyable conversation.

ADresden, I'm confident that Autodesk will deeply improve Eagle in next months. I hope with all my soul that they will empower and enrich it avoiding inflating it with useless embellishments. As I said above, despite of some aspects that make me grunt like a boar, I feel that the path is well marked. Why I'm so confident? Because enhancement in these conditions is relatively easy: Eagle desperately needed improvements, and the operation margin is (still) very wide.

I'm hoping for the future: even Michelangelo started his Mosè (or Moses) from a rough, rugged, badly squared piece of marble.

Cheers.

That is command execution on multiple components.
We would need a new name for that, for example "multicommand".
Aligning components is the current new multicommand. What I need is context menu that names sense, and includes such multicommands, namely: "chance component value" (given the same component class (resistors, etc.), change component package (given the components have same number of pins (resistors, capacitors and such).

Because right click NEEDS you to provide the most relevant actions first, the current alphabetical listing takes AGES for me to use anything, no matter that it is always on the same place.

I'd love to be friends with an italian like you, gesticulating wildly at the monitor, with an expressive comment and face grimaces... aaah.

There is an Eagle blog somewhere and it stated "we feel your pain" and "why reinvent the wheel?"

read it.

then come back and post elaborate suffestions with drawings.

I'm dead tired this evening.sorry.

Hi giorgio.bisotto,

I'm sorry for this inconvenience, let me know if EAGLE v8.2.0 has the same behavior.  At times I will experience this because I am constantly changing between using a corporate VPN, WiFy or Cable Ethernet access.  So EAGLE will continuously ask for my credentials.  Its possible you are behind a provider firewall and EAGLE needs to validate its entitlement token.

Best Regards,

Ed

Hi Edwin,

With 8.2.0 the problem seems to be resolved. Now it crashes for other reasons, but it's another story and I'll open a dedicated thread.

Thank you, best regards.
