Hi,

Long time user of eagle, I recently switched from 6.6 to 9.5. I need help on some details that are pretty much irritating.

1) how to set and keep tool bar position and configuration, once and for all. (my menu keep to be reset and set back to default position)

2) how to remove the left panel from coming each time I open a schematic from a board (or vice versa)

3) how to remove once and for all the 3 icons that grab space on PCB tools.

also, I lost already 3 times my directory config. Where are these information stored, and how to prevent that ?

Hello @cfroidevaux,

All of the settings are stored in the eaglerc file. The easiest way to set the positions is to go ahead and arrange all of the tool bard positions the way you like them. Go to the file menu on any of the editors and click File > Save All.

For 2 are you referring to the Design Manager, Inspector, etc.? I discourage getting rid of those since there is a ton of useful functionality there. If you want to get rid of them look under the view menu, just uncheck the boxes for those items.

For 3 I dont recommend disabling them but if you want them gone, go to Options > User Interface and disabled them.

Once you made all of those adjustments click File -> Save All. If it still doesn't work that implies EAGLE can't write to the eaglerc file. Make sure you are installing EAGLE to the root of C.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

the "save all" button was the trick!

I did spend some time setting all this, seem to work (not first times, but now look ok, hope it stay that way).

This bring me another problem, my eagle.scr (that define specific menu and line width and so on) is not executed, it is located in scr repertory. Any reason ?

Hi @cfroidevaux,

I hope you're doing well. Make sure you are editing the correct one, there are two. There is one in the examples folder and one in scripts under the Documents folder. The one that runs is the one under scripts in the Documents folder.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I did some test, I cannot make it work.

I do change the default directory to some network drive (as this is my way of working), it was working fine in eagle 6.6 but here no way to get the script launched at start of program.

I tried to put back script eagle.scr in $HOME\EAGLE\script, and change directory accordingly, no more luck.

If I start the script on eagle board directly, it work without problem and bring missing menus.

I remember at really begining that this menu was present, maybe some mixup from previous 6.6 version ??

any help welcome.
