Changing the pin/hole names of con-lstb part e.g. MA06-1.

Hi Eagle Forum, 

The  pins/hole of the MAXX-X parts within con-lstb library are default numbered, and I want to change these to custom naming. To do this I opened the con-lstb library and saved a copy, then I went into edit this copy.

I managed to go into symbols of MA06-1 right clicked it -> edit. From there I right clicked each pin and choose properties and changes the name from 1 to e.g. custom name, then I saved the part closed the library.

But the part (MA06-1 copied and edited) still appears with same numbered pin/hole default names? Am I missing something?

Hello @Nilasstohr,

I hope you're doing well. Where did you save this copy to? The libraries that ship with EAGLE are read-only. In order to modify a part you have to copy it to a personal library and make the changes there.

please see attached pictures. I already did all of that, can you teel me what is wrong looking at the pictures 1-6? I can give you a summary of what i did:

1. From library manager under Available found con-lstb lib and copy it my own location.

2. From library manager under Available found my copy con-lstb and open edit library

3. From edit library view i found MA06-1 under symbol right clicked and choose "edit".

4. From changed the name of the pin and press save. (A file caled "con-lstb.l#1" now appeared in location my con-lstb) copy ??)

5. make sure to use copied and edited library in library manager, then I went to my schematic and open add, found my copied and edited con-lstb library and you can clearly see from the picture to right that the pin name  has not been  changes.

what am i doing wrong? cant see it.

Hi @Nilasstohr,

Thank you for the picture. Go into the library that you edited and look at the pins, if you look at picture 4 you'll see that visible is set to PAD, which means the pin is only going to show the pad it's connected to and not the pin name. If you want to see the PIN name as well you can set visible to both.

The other option is to go into the footprint and rename the pads. Then the symbol will show the intended pad names.
