Cannot export from Eagle Cad.

Hi.

I have a fairly advanced board that I need to push from Eagle Cad to Fusion 360.

Or to be more specific, I have three boards that I need to push.

One of them exports perfectly.

But two of them (the most advanced one AND the simplest one) cannot be pushed.

I just get "Error pushing to Fusion: ." as an error message.

A pdf is created in my Fusion 360 folder but there is no information on why it fails.

It only says "Result": Error

Is there any way for me to get more information on what the problem is?

I have gone thru everything I can find on the internet on this but without luck.

Like "you need a dimension layer" and so on.

Note that I do not have any 3D data on any of my components.

I do not need 3D on every component atm. since I am only interested in the component placements in 2D and the PCB in 3D.

Versions:

Eagle: 9.1.3 premium

Fusion 360: 2.0.4383

Hello,

Have you used managed libraries? If so are they all "owned" by the same autodesk account being used for the board and pushing it to Fusion360? I ask because I wonder if it's some sort of permissions error if you have a managed library which was created by another user? Currently managed libraries cannot be shared.

Best Regards,

Hi Rachael, thanks for your reply.

No, I do not use any managed library.

At least what I know.

I have built my own library with my own design and also some imported ones.

Please see attached files.

Is there any way for me to get a list of what devices I use in what libraries?

File>Export-Partlist only gets me the actual devices, not like "supply" like GND and stuff.

Anyway, it feels like that "supply" devices shouldn't be any problem for Fusion 360 exporter, right?

Best regards

Robin

Hi Robin,

Ok I see from your screenshots that you don't have any managed libraries, but managed resources can exist within standard libraries too. Have you or anybody else working on adding parts to your unmanaged library created footprints with the IPC package wizard? Footprints created this way are themselves managed resources and if they were created under an Autodesk login other than the one you are using to push to Fusion360 then this will fail.

I could be barking up the wrong tree here and it might be something completely different but I would suspect a permissions issue with managed resources as the most likely culprit.

So something you could try is to use the File->Save as copy for v7.x to save it as a version compatible with the pre-v8 series. This will definitely strip out any managed resources and convert everything to regular non-managed ones. Then load this up in the lates v9.1.3 and try pushing to Fusion360. As a test I just loaded up an example design which is definitely all unmanaged and pushed it to Fusion360 and it was fine.

Best Regards,

Rachael

Hi @Anonymous,

Are there any logos in your design? Sometimes those can trip up the conversion.

I'll contact our developers on this issue. If you can please post the file for review since troubleshooting these issues requires a sample. If you don't feel comfortable posting the files just e-mail me jorge.garcia@autodesk.com.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
