Black window on start

I'm currently getting a black window instead of the login screeen. This started happening without changing my version of Eagle (8.6). Installing 8.6.1 did not resolve the issue. Only versions prior version 8 are still working. I'm using Ubuntu 17.10.

I'm assuming this has to do with the webview component. I had similar issues with Chrome on Windows.

Deleting the files made no difference for me either.

Eagle 8.7 has resolved the issue for me. No more black screen for the login window.

This issue popped up again in Eagle 9.5 including all sub releases.

Hello @Timon-MESO,

I hope you're doing well. Try starting EAGLE from the terminal and lets see what it reports this time. Let me know what OS and hardware you are working with. In the EAGLE installation directory you'll find a readme file. Try the suggestions in it and let me know if that helps.

Let me know if you continue to run into issues.

Best Regards,

I had the same problem on Kubuntu 19.10 having Intel Graphics. The problem must have been result of an update and occured first with eagle 9.5.2.

Solution is starting eagle with following shell skript:

#!/bin/sh
export LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxcb-dri3.so.0 ./eagle

Last line is necessary since several releases of eagle. Second line fixed the black screen problem.

Hope it helps,

Peter
