8.7 not starting with QT error message

Hi,

I just installed 8.7 and I am now unable to start Eagle. I have tried eagle.exe and eagle_SW_OpenGL.bat. In both cases, I get the Eagle graphic saying loading but it goes no further.

I tried eaglecon.exe and get the following error message:

Warning: QT_DEVICE_PIXEL_RATIO is deprecated. Instead use:

QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR to enable platform plugin controlled per-screen factors.

    QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS to set per-screen factors.

QT_SCALE_FACTOR to set the application global scale factor.

I have the latest version of Nvidia graphics drivers.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thank you

Hi pilot537780,

Sorry that you are experiencing this inconvenience with the latest version of EAGLE. Did you have an earlier version of EAGLE installed that worked? if this is the case, can you tell us what version of EAGLE was it.

Best Regards,

Edwin

Hi Edwin,

Yes, I did have a working version of Eagle. Unfortunately, I am unable to tell you with certainty which version it was as I uninstalled it prior to installing 8.7 and the uninstall did not leave any entry in the Windows application log.

I think it was the previous version though.

Best regards,

Chris

Hi pilot537780,

Thank you for the reply, it does help.

Please follow this link to access earlier version of EAGLE.

I did find a few interesting articles that might help us trouble shoot this:

It appears this is being affecting by the scaling factor setup in the Windows Display Scaling:

I found a similar error message for different application here. Which followed a link to QT Documentation

Navigate to your Windows Control panel and locate your Display settings.  There you will be able to changed you scaling parameter, make sure they are set to 100%.  Apply the changes and try to launch EAGLE again using the eagle_SW_OpenGL.bat file.

Please keep me informed.

Best Regards,

Edwin

Hi Edwin,

As far as I can tell, my scaling parameters are already at 100%.

I have checked the the Nvidia control panel and the "No scaling" option is selected. I have also checked the Display menu in Windows control panel. The custom DPI setting is set at 100%.

Could the new version of Eagle have difficulties with my resolution (5760x1080)?

Best regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

For testing purposes, please change your resolution to 1920x1080, and reboot. Launch EAGLE using the batch file. Please let me know your results.

Regards,

Edwin

I tried with a resolution of 1920x1080 as requested. I get the same error message. I tried starting Eagle with the batch file, eagle.exe and eaglecon.exe.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply, Jorge has asked one of our developers to follow this thread. We will keep you informed.

Let us try one more idea, delete your eaglerc.usr file.  You will find it here: C:\Users\_user_name_\AppData\Roaming\CadSoft\EAGLE

Regards,

Edwin

Hello @pilot537780,

I hope you're doing well. Our developers have been informed of this issue and they are working on it. For now the only resolution we can recommend is to not use that particular monitor for now. We are working on a resolution.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.
