3D package generator for non-standard components such as TO-220 or 5pin relay

Trying to add a new component to my managed library, however cannot seem to add anything non-standard, i.e. not from the pre-set menu of component bodies (see attachment).

I can import a step model of my part, however the pins/pads do not match up with the internal presets of the 3D package generator, and I can not seem to edit them.

Thanks.

Tim

Hello @Timothy.McIntyre,

I hope you're having a great day. The package generator is designed to make new packages that fit the parameters of one of the included wizards. If you have a step model of the part then you don't need to use the package generator.

If you have your footprint already done go ahead and push a new version of the library. Once you do this you'll see that in the 3D package column there is now an entry with the same name as the footprint you want to assign a model for. Double click the entry in the 3D package column. Now you will be able to assign the step model to the part.

It's possible I've misunderstood what you're going for, if I have please let me know so that I can give you the guidance you need.

Ah, I see.

For some reason, my initial attempt at the managed library did not create the default 3D package from the footprints.  Remaking the library allowed the default 3D package to be generated.

From there I simply followed your steps resulting in a 3D part.

Thanks.

Tim
