import Gerber files as a footprint

Hello,

I have a Gerber file which I'd like to convert / use as a footprint. I don't have any idea how to use it. There are some .DRR, .DLL etc. files. There is no "import" option for that file. Am I missing something?

Thanks J

Hi @jprzezdziecki,

I hope you're doing well. Unfortunately gerbers are simply artwork, so they don't carry pad or netlist information. So importing it is not going to help you.

I would recommend following these tutorials that will take you through the process of creating your own library part.

Hi @jorge_garcia,

My subscription plan allows me to use Fusion 360 so I have downloaded this software yesterday and watched some of your videos.

I don't understand the fundamental thing - why create devices, symbols and footprints in parallel in Fusion when I do the same in Eagle? What is the purpose of doubling Eagle functionality in Fusion. I assume Fusion 360 is an environment for creation of 3D models - it is understandable.

Thanks Jurek
