Group command bug

I'd like to report a bug and see if anyone has a workaround.

The bug is that when you select the group command and try to drag a box around a set of closely spaced objects, the command switches to move and moves one of the objects instead of grouping. The only way I've found around it is to start dragging about 1mm away from the object, but this becomes impossible on a 0.5mm x 0.5mm BGA footprint (for example). I hope AutoDesk can fix this, as it makes group copy-pasting pads with sequential names quite frustrating and inefficient. I also hope this is a bug and not a "feature", as this makes no sense - I chose the group command, so this must mean I am planning on grouping, not moving. If I wished to move, I would select the move command.

In the attached video I demonstrate this happening. You can see I select the group tool first, and then it switches to move when I start my selection. Selecting further away gets the desired result. I repeat both the bug and the "workaround" twice.

Do you have the "Group command default on" option set? It all works much better if you turn that off.

Thank you! It'll take a second to get used to the change (I didn't realize how much I relied on that setting), but it helps avoid the problem I described.
