eagle.exe has stopped working

Hello, after upgrading to Eagle 8, eagle.exe crashes on startup. Have used E6 and 7 fine for years, new Eagle 8 just doesn't work for me. Generic screenshots are attached. Tried reinstalling a few times to no avail; any other advice? Using this for work so I need to get this fixed yesterday...

I had the same problem. It seems to be solved by deactivating "LavasoftTcpService64.dll" in the c:\windows\system32 folder. I´ve simply renamed it and rebootet windows. Now Eagle starts  ...

still having issues since i posted ~1 month ago.

Installed 8.1.1 - same problem as 8.1.0

only thing that helps is that opengl batchfile in the install directory.

why not change the installer to ask which one to create a shortcut to (or just add shortcuts for both)?

its not a great fix but better than nothing, i guess.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for participating, I'm glad that the bat file works on your system. Thank you for your suggestion, these reason we don't automatically create links to it is that there is a small number of users who need the batch file because of their graphics hardware. It might create more confusion for the larger userbase. With that said I do think there is room in the readme to put instructions for that.

I'll create an enhancement request for this.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Best Regards,

Hi there hello123213,

I hope you're doing well today. Thank you for posting the crash report, in your case the issue is that you have Lavasoft installed on your system. This piece of software is known to interfere with EAGLE, go ahead and uninstall it. After that you'll find that EAGLE starts up without issue.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I am suffering from the same crashing problem since Autodesk took over Eagle. I was really pissed off.

How can an easy task like adding a log-in windows can badly screwed up such a nice software?

Here are the event log:

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. At this point there is a few things to try:

1. Try starting EAGLE using the eagle_SW_OpenGL.bat file. Does EAGLE open

2. Make sure you don't have Lavasoft software anywhere on your machine.

3. Are you behind any type of IT restrictions or firewall?

4. Try starting eaglecon, does that let you sign in?

Please let me know if you continue to run into problems.

Thanks,

I wasn't doing very well because EAGLE doesn't work. We bought in a Mac and it works OK there.

1. Try starting EAGLE using the eagle_SW_OpenGL.bat file. Does EAGLE open

=> Yes it does. Font looks very bad though.

2. Make sure you don't have Lavasoft software anywhere on your machine.

=> No, I don't have

3. Are you behind any type of IT restrictions or firewall?

=> Yes, there is some software restriction depending on what you are referring to. There are antivirus, firewall, as standard in most company laptop.

In any case, it should not just crash.

4. Try starting eaglecon, does that let you sign in?

=> No it doesn't

Please let me know if you continue to run into problems.

Best Regards,

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. I'm glad it's working for you on the Mac. If the bat file works then that let's me know that it was a video issue, the bat file is a way to workaround that video issue.

The fact that it looks ugly means you are probably using a high resolution display, am I correct in that assumption? If I am, then you've run into EAGLE's lack of compatibility with high resolution displays on the mac. This is an area that needs to be improved and we have an open request on this issue.

As far as the IT restrictions go, if you have a company proxy setup then EAGLE can use that to reach the Autodesk servers.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. Can you answer the same questions I gave hoangtuanbs, here they are for your reference:

Additionally, thanks for the crash report but typically it shows a specific error in the application. From what you have given, it looks like the issue is the way EAGLE is starting up with the login. If that is the case then #1 should work and take care of it.

Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

1. A window pops up, but the contents are just black. Nothing happens

2. I don't think I have ever used this product. I did a search for "Lava" but returned no results.

3. I'm using my home computer with just Windows Defender. I am using a VPN to access the Internet.

4. When I launch eaglecon, I get a window that says:

2.jpg

I also get the error message that says eaglecon.exe has stopped working with the following error codes:

I need this software to open a file sent by a customer. Is there a link to an old version that I can try?

All the old installers are available from FTP here: ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/eagle/program/

Grab a v7 and you should be able to open and view the file sent.

I am having similar problems as mentioned in this topic, but it doesn't stop working, it just never starts.  When I start eagle.exe I get the Autodesk Eagle splash screen and then an error message that says eagle.exe has stopped working.  As suggested in this thread I tried invoking the program from the bat file and get the same results.  I tried eaglecon.exe and a cmd window pops up, the Autodesk splash file pops up and then I get "eaglecon.exe has stopped working".  There may be some info in the cmd window, see attached.

I am using Win7 and do not have lavasoft on my computer.  I've turned off my antivirus software and still get the same results.

The debug.log file shows an entry like this repeated every time I try starting eagle.exe:  [1122/204907:ERROR:gles2_cmd_decoder.cc(12613)] [GroupMarkerNotSet(crbug.com/242999)!:B8A2560A00000000]GL ERROR :GL_INVALID_ENUM : glTexStorage2DEXT: <- error from previous GL command.  See attached debug.log file

I initially tried loading eagle into the program files X86 directory and saw in this forum that it should only go into the default c:/EAGLE 8.4.1 directory so I uninstalled everything and reinstalled as recommended (why give to option to change if it is required?).

Fyi, I have another computer running Win8 and it works just fine.  I'd just like to be able to work from this Win7 machine because I have it in a more comfortable place in my house.

Thanks for your help....  Please let me know if I can provide any more info to help get this running.

Hi @Anonymous,

I hope you're doing well. Thank you for describing the things you have already tried. At this point I would advise that you update your video drivers to the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer of your video card. Don't be misled by Windows, go to the actual manufacturers website and see if they have newer drivers for your hardware. Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

I suggest you have the same symptom, not the same problem. You've not given any detailed information about your specific issue, and, given that nothing in this thread or elsewhere has helped you I would suggest you start a new thread and describe exactly your issue with every detail you can possibly think of and everything you have tried so far listed.

Best Regards,

Rachael

My problem is that the software won`t run anymore. it ran the first time only and ever since I restarted the Laptop it just won`t run, upon start up it returns the "eagle has stopped working" message.
