Hi,

I create a new layer in the library and I have a question whether in Eagle it is possible for the custom layer to behave like e.g. tDocu and bDocu layers,I creating tAss_docu and bAss_docu layers, i.e. in the component I define a custom top layer(tAss_docu) and after turning the component in the design it automatically remains it turned into a bottom layer(bAss_docu)

I need this! I would be happy with a solution based on a naming convention (swapping all of the tSomething into bSomething and vice versa).

Reasoning: I'm using a custom layer for PCB silkscreen documentation which I want only on the silkscreen (tPlace + tCustom), and not on the printed documentation (tPlace + tDocu).

Hi @Anonymous ,

I hope you're doing well. This is possible, the key is that you have to use specific pairs of layers. Built-in there are 4 pairs of layers available to users that automatically mirror each other. These are the 4 pairs

53/54, 55/56, 57/58 and 59/60.

Those are the only pairs of layers that have this property.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

Hi Jorge,

thank you very much for this info, it solves my needs.

However, I had to add/activate the layers in the LBR file with a text editor. It's unfortunate that the existence of these layers is so well hidden...

Regards,

Tomas
