CREATING A LIBRARY FROM SCHEMATIC

Firstly, sorry for the bad English.

I have a schematic that uses a component that belongs to a library that is not available on the libraries list.

When I right-click on this component and examine its properties it shows the library and component name.

Certainly,this component was created by the author of the project.

How can I make this particular library available on the libraries list?

You can export all the libraries in the schematic by going to File > Export Libraries > Export original libraries.

As Pedro states, you can export the libraries used in a design very easily. I'm not sure what version of EAGLE you are using but it looks like Pedro is using an older version as the export tool has changed quite a bit compared to the version in his example. In 9.1.1 the procedure is as follows:

Go to File -> Export -> Libraries

From there you will see a window like the following:

From here you can select whether to export to multiple libraries (this maintains the libraries as described in the board) or to create one combined library for the parts in the board. For what you are trying to do I would choose to export multiple libraries. 

You can also select/deselect libraries by clicking on the row to toggle the export status or using the various buttons to help with bulk toggles so you can quickly narrow down the export to just the libraries you need.

Choose a suitable output path and then click ok. It should go ahead and create your libraries for you without too many (or any) additional questions. At this point you can put the new libraries in the library path (if they aren't already) and mark them as in use in the control panel and then you should see all the parts you need have been made accessible.

Hello Rachel,

  I'm sorry for replying to this old post but I'm working with Eagle v9.5.2 and I've succesfully exported the libraries using your method. Now, I need to modify some footprints on the PCB. How can I link the new library to the current components? Or do I have to replace them?

I hope you're doing well. The most general way to do this is to do a replace operation and is what I would recommend to do.

Hi,

Sorry for adding to an old Thread, but my issue is similar.  I go to my schematic, click on export libraries, and about halfway through, eagle crashes and shuts down , every time.  I've tried on two different computers.
Any suggestions?

I tried it on various designs, the first two were from 3 years ago, so i thought i'd try a more recent design, it only has 7 parts.   The same thing happens.

At first i thought maybe it was locking the file, so i disabled locking, and it was still having the issue.

I'm willing to share the file, but not over the forums, for privacy issues.  Do you have my email address off my account?

Hi, Sorry to revive an old topic, but I was trying to use the solution from Rachel to export my schematic as a library, but it would not give me any possible libraries to export to(image below) and if I try to make a new library, it just won't show up. Is there any way to make a new library for it or at least make the other libraries show up?

From the image below it looks like you've selected it to export the four libraries used in the design to a single library which will be named the same as your design. If you look at your path specification I can see you appear to have an erroneous space in there and a repeated folder name (is this correct?) so make sure that is right. You can use the browse button to select any convenient folder to export it into. Once that path is correct just click OK and it should start exporting the library data. It may take a little time to do this depending on the complexities of the libraries. If this isn't working still then maybe you can create a screencast to show exactly what you are doing and what happens?
