What is happening with parametrics in ACAD?

I used to use IV FDS.  Despite any headaches I loved it.  Then I went to Solidworks, I see some advantages but overall not a fan.  Now I'm working with strictly basic ACAD.  I barely touch 3d and have recently become aware of dynamic blocks.  The problem I'm having is the parametrics. They were better which was essentially overlaid onto ACAD.  They're light years away in IV, so much easier to use.  While I that there's clearly an effort toward parametrics I just don't see why they're so difficult to use when ADSK has multiple versions that are much nicer.  The ultimate question is, what is ADSK's plan for parametric sketching?  I find them so very clunky and problematic compared to the other versions I've used.

My recommendation would be... don't use them except as a last resort.  Almost all functionality in dynamic blocks can be done without any parametric constraints at all and so they just screw things up, make the blocks larger than necessary and cause the behavior to be inconsistent.

Use Dynamic Parameters/Actions instead.  Their behavior is ROCK SOLID in contrast and they can do 99.99% of what constraints can do and lots of things that constraints CAN'T do.

Also, each of the CAD programs you mention have different benefits/downsides.  The way you work in one of them is *not* the way you should work in another one.  Trying to use ACAD in the same way you liked to use Solidworks is silly and an exercise in frustration.

My guess is something that will not be revisited anytime soon.

Dynamic Parameters and Actions came out in 2006 and have not had any significant enhancements since.

Parametric Constraints were introduced to ACAD in 2010 and have been red-headed step children ever since.
