Hey guys,
I am trying to figure out how to extract "Panel Tags" and "Dimensions" from a block chart in autocad. The purpose is to extract the data to a spreadsheet (which will be used to calculate extrusion lengths, and to copy and paste into a CNC program) to avoid having to enter the data twice.
I haven't used imperial in 5 years (im in Construction contracting and manufacturing in Canada), but its all my new company uses.
I would like to use fractions instead of decimals, because the workers are used to working with them. I have figure out how to make stacked dimensions within the attributes, to make it look clearer, from this thread https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-forum/stacking-fractions-in-attributes-blocks/td-p/2705427.
I figured out how to get the information extracted using a template (find it here https://www.cad-notes.com/how-to-extract-block-attributes-in-autocad-lt/), but regardless if they are stacked or not, fractions are not extracted properly into my TXT file.
I have found that if I leave a space between the number and fraction, and do not show the " for inches it is useful in the spreadsheet.
see attached picture, which shows how it shows up when the space is left out.
Is there any other solution to this? I would like to just enter the text, like i normally do, and have it be extracted and be useful.
sorry for the long winded question, i just wanted to paint the context.
