Smart fastener block - array threads while stretching length

Hi everyone,

What I'd like to do is allow the fastener to be stretched to certain lengths. Problem is, 1" and 2" needs to be a fully threaded fastener. 3" and so on need to have a certain amount of length that is not threaded towards the head.

I've attached my working example, as well as what the fasteners need to look like next to the actual block in modelspace. 1" and 2" isn't a problem to get working. 3" is where I run into the issue of stretching, moving the array, and still arraying the appropriate amount of threads.

Thank you,

Larry

Didn't my suggestion above help you to solve your problem?

(Perhaps I misunderstood your challenge?)

Is there any way to set the shank (non-threaded) portion of the fastener to a certain length as the fastener grows?

For instance, when it is stretched to 3" long, can you make the non-threaded portion change to a different length?

When stretching to 4" for example, can it then grow again to more than 1" in length?

... and at the same time reduce the length of the threaded part again? I'm not sure I understand your request correctly. As I interpret it so far, you want two handles - one for the overall length and one that adjusts the shank length for a given overall length?
Can you please confirm this my guess and/or show some more examples of the hoped for result.

Hello, sorry for the late late reply. I've been working on this off and on and I've gotten this far. See attached.

My problem now is the threads don't update when you go from 4" to a shorter fastener. Any Idea on how to fix this? For example: it works fine going from 1" to 2/3/4", but when you try to go from 4" to 2", the threads don't update.

Let me know your thoughts, thank you.

Attached an example using a block property table.
