Picking up cumulative area to insert into filed is it possible?

I know how to do area and could potentially have a formula adding the various areas together but is there a way of picking up cumulative areas. This is for a drainage catchment plan and therefore than be a 1000 hatches in one drawing over say a 100 layers

Select all your hatches and open properties (Ctrl+1) you can see the cumulative area. See the ringed area in the image below. You can't however use a field code for cumulative area unless someone has written a lisp for it.
