Need some advices with Crane Dynamic Block

Please review the dynamic block I created and provide any suggestions to improve its performance. Additionally, I noticed that the hoist behaves strangely when adjusting the boom length and angle.


Is there a way to make it more automatic? For example, can the lift cylinder automatically adjust its length and angle when the boom length and angle change, or perhaps another solution?

Thank you so much! I came across your post on a different topic, but in my case, the boom length changes as well, so I still haven’t figured out how to manage it.

Are we talking about the ATF220G-5.dwg or any other block ("... but in my case, ..."). 

I don't yet understand what is your question/problem.

I came across your post in the "Mobile Crane Block" topic.

 

Your video just appeared in my topic, and after watching it, I figured out what I was doing wrong. It works in my block now—thanks again!

 

If possible, could you please explain the principle behind how it works? I’ve been watching and thinking, but I still don’t fully understand it.

Additionally, there’s an issue with the hook. When the boom is at a high angle, the hook looks fine, but at a lower angle, it stays straight, but its position looks a bit off.

- disable the visibility of the grips of the polar Parameter "Distance 2" (set number of grips to 0). The user must not grab and move these grips.
- Add a new point parameter at position A and add this parameter ("Position 7") to the rotate only selection set of the polar stretch action "Polar Stretch". => when the polar parameter "Distance 1" rotates the beam (via the "Polar Stretch" action) also the new added point parameter rotates around the point B. To get this chain to work, the "Chain Actions" property of the parameters "Position 7" and "Distance 2" must been set to "Yes".

The attached attempt is not yet perfect, but I think (I hope) it is close enough to your needs.

It works perfectly, just as I expected! However, there’s a minor issue when I stretch the main hook. One of the wire ropes stretches in an odd way, as you can see in the image below.

How did you manage to fix that? I removed the wire rope controlled by "Stretch 7" and "Stretch 8" from the "Stretch 1" object, and it seems to work the same way as yours.

I deleted/removed the "Position 8" parameter from the selection set of the "Stretch 1" action.

A last additional note: 

 

I'd suggest to disable the grips of the parameters "Distance 2", "Position 1", "Position 2", "Position 7, "Position 8", "Position 9" and also their visibilty in the properties panel. That can be done easily in the Parameter Manager.

Otherwise the use can edit their values in the property window and so destroy the block reference(s). 

 

 

Whether you also set the visibility of the properties of the parameters "Position 3 -6"  to "No Show" depends on how the user may use the block. If it is set to "No Show" only the 4 given values of the popup list are possible; if it is set to "Show" the user can choose a value from the list and also type each other value of his choice. Only you know whether that is allowed.

Additionally, the block doesn’t seem very smooth, maybe because there are a lot of details and parameters.

 One more thing I’m trying to do is flip the upper part as shown in the image below, under the visibility state "AT220断面." However, I still haven’t figured it out. I’m not sure which parts or parameters to select. I tried, but the cylinder part ended up acting strangely or something like that.
