Multiline attribute resets

I am desperately seeking help to understand why we have a single block that randomly reverts the multiline attribute value back to single line and deletes all the text!!!

The block is dynamic and only one out of 100 drawings it will simply convert the attribute, revert back to the default value and only when we save. It is extremely frustrating to say the least.

The block definition itself is fine. We do not have a second block that we have redefined it accidentally with. It just randomly does it. The worst part is once it happens you lose everything and there is no way I know to get it all back.

Has anyone else encountered this and/or have any ideas on what may be happening? better yet how to stop it or fix it?

Thanks in advance

Post your block and we can look at it but I have never had a block act the way you describe and I've been using dynamic blocks since their inception.

Nancy,

Thanks for your response. like you I have used dynamic blocks since the early days and we have far more complex ones than this one, but it is the only one that seems to do what I described.

The hard part is, when it was first mentioned to me by another user, I was unable to replicate the issue, despite testing and testing. Then all of a sudden, one drawing it just suddenly happened to me. You do not realise it until you reopen the drawing later on down the track.

And if you really want to be annoyed, if you open the bak file and rename it to a dwg.... the block is ok!! Figure that one out!

Hey, thanks for any help or ideas you come up with anyway mate.

If you don't find a solution for the dynamic block I would suggest using a table for this information in the future.  Setup a typical table with a style that displays as you have now. You can save it inside a block and explode it back to a table after insertion.  Or, just drag the table to a toolpallet, or the block to a toolpallet set to explode on insert.
