MIS MATCHING TAGS AND PROMPTS WITH VISIBLITY PARAMETER

I am having difficulty getting a visibility parameter to jive with attribute definitions.

If I assign several visibility states to multiple ATT DEFs they are mis-matched with their corresponding TAGS and PROMPTS.  But if the visibility state is set to the MAX, as in all of the ATT DEFs are turned on, then they align with the corresponding TAGs and PROMPTS.

See attached block dwg.

I'm not sure what you are saying.  The position of each attribute is the same regardless of which other attributes are showing.  See screencast.

Oh, I'm sorry, please let me clarify.  In the DIALOGUE box where you enter values for the ATTRIBUTES, the labels for the TAGS and PROMPTS do not line up until all of the ATTRIBUTES are turned on in the VISIBILITY states.

That is a function of the visibility states.  If an attribute is not visible in the current state, it does not show up in the attributes list.  The same is true for parameters in the properties palette.  If a parameter is not visible in the current state it will not show up as a property on the properties palette.  I find that to be a helpful feature.

Yeah well I find it quite annoying.  My revision tag, and several others, are prompting for information on the wrong line depending on the current visibility state.  Any suggestions for a work around?

What do you mean by 'wrong line'?  I still don't understand why you would want the dialog to display attribute values that are not in the current visibility state.  If you want an attribute value to display in the dialog, then change the visibility state and then it will...  What's the problem?  I really would like to help but I still don't see what you are wanting other than a function that I cannot see a use for even if it did exist.  Give me more info other than the fact that you want it different from the way it is, and maybe I can help.

Here, I will try again, if you compare the revision description JPEGS.  The fist one has a visibility setting to not show any revisions, but under the PROMPT the REVISION DESCRIPTION 01 & 02 should not be displaying, they should say SHEET NAME, and SHEET NUMBER.  Then when you change the VISIBILITY state to show all revisions, they line up under the PROMPT correctly displaying the SHEET NAME, and NUMBER aligned under the TAG NAME and NUMBER.

Ah, ok.  All I can say is sometimes I can be a bit thick.  I see the issue.  I'll see if I can some up with any solution.

No, no, youre amazing, its just the cumbersome nature of trying to describe a graphic image in words, and my clumsy use of those words.  I could've probably used 1000 words and still not conveyed what I was trying to say.

I am working in 2008 Architecture, I wonder if its just a quirk of an older version?

I am using ACA 2016 and cannot replicate the issue.  Do you have all service packs/hot fixes installed for your version?

How about reordering the attributes so that the attributes that always appear are on top?  It's been a while since I used 2008.  You may be able to reorder with Parameters Manager or you may need to remake the attributes in the desired order.

Yes, reordering them works.  I was in such a habit of making them display in order, I didn't think of that as an option.  Thank you.

Is there a way to check that my software is up to date with the latest service packs and hot fixes?  I have no idea what is installed.

You can go to Windows Control Panel>Programs and Features>Installed Updates to see what is installed.  There are probably 2 service packs for 2008.
