Make text vertical in a dynamic block

I am new to dynamic blocks, so if someone can help I would greatly appreciate it. I have searched the web and can't find what I am looking for. I want to be able to create a block that has vertical text. I was able to creat a horizontal one, but not vertical. There would be three visibility states. 1 phase, 2 phase and 3 phase. X, XX, XXX (only vertical). I need to be able to change the x's into A, B, C or a combination depending on the phase. I have an attachment which has my dynamic block-horizontal, and what I need for vertical. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

In the Text Style dialog box there is the option of 'Vertical'.  Unfortunately, there are not very many fonts that support the option.

When you say text style dialog box, are you saying within the attribute definition in the block editor? That is how I created the horizontal phase block.

Nope.  I mean the Text Style dialog box.  Try the command 'style'.
