Keeping Action Grips Centered

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to create an (L) steel angle block for me to use at work so things will go a little faster drawing-wise. I already have some other parameters in mind I'm going to add later but I'm having trouble keeping this stretch action in the middle of the rectangle.

I have two parameters in the block - one for size and other for the length of the angle. I also have two points for reference. I would like the action grip to be centered along with the referene points, but so far I can either a) not allow the grip to move, or b) stretch the grip along with the angle but not have it centered.

I have the file attached below. Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

Thank you!

A better description of what you want would help.  There aren't any grips in the file other than the lookup grip.  Is that what you want centered with the points?  If not, then what grip do you want where?  Drawing or noting what you want within the file is a good way to convey that info.

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Sorry, I might need a little more info.

Are you trying to keep the Lookup Grip centered with the Leg of the Angle?

It's not the lookup grip that I want centered, but the distance grips between the (2) points whenever I stretch it vertically.

However, I came up with an altnernate way in creating my block. Instead of having the basepoint in the top corner, I moved it down so it's at the mid-left. After that, I just used a stretch action with the base location starting at the midpoint.

I might have realized that I didn't attach the most up-to-date block. But attached is what I was going for.

Thanks anyways!

IMO, it's bad practice to place the base point anywhere other than at 0,0 within the block.  You should move everything within the block editor so that the base point is back at 0,0.  If you set BACTIONBARMODE=0 and use the STRETCH command on everything, the stretch windows and independent actions all move also.  With the base point at a location other than 0,0 within the block you can get some buggy behavior.  I adjusted the block in the attached file.

When you want something to stay centered in a parameter, one typical way to accomplish it is to add a stretch action and change the distance multiplier to 0.5.  See attached.
