Insulation to fill my element block?

So i would like to do  a dynamic block of a vertical view of wall element. I want to use my own soft insulation pattern inside the element. I also want the linear parameter to be as high as my element, so that when i input a lenght for the stretch action, the input will become the height of the object.

The problem is that i can't get the insulation pattern to strech/array to fit the inside of the element fully. If i use the batting-linetype as the insulation it works 100%, but i want to use my own pattern for insulation.

I don't want to do a new linetype for the insulation because the linetype would not work with computers that don't have the linetype/shape -files. or is there a way to attach custom linetypes to drawing files permanently? A hatch would propably work also, but i don't know how to do hatches.

Any ideas on how i could try to solve this?

I wouldn't recommend the batting linetype because it doesn't play nice with multiple scaled viewports -- it acts like any other linetype and adjusts itself to look identical across multiple scales in paperspace. I'd recommend a hatch pattern, and associate the hatch to whatever objects you are trying to stretch (include the hatch boundary in the stretch action). I am including mine herewith, but you have to make sure the origin point is in one corner (it was designed bottom left for horizontal), that the hatch scale matches the cavity width (3.5 for 3 1/2" cavity etc.) and that it's angle matches the direction of the cavity -- or it'll start looking like one of those wall posters you stare at and see 3D stuff!

Oh and drop the pattern file into your support path (Options-->Tools-->etc) and then it should show up in your hatch manager under "custom". Good luck!

By the way I had to rename the file extension to .dwg. Change it back to .pat -- hope that didn't screw it up

Thanks Charles! It seems to work like i wanted.

It looks like custom hatch patterns show correctly when the dwg is moved to different computers. But the actual hatch-file doesn't transfer and the custom hatch cannot be modified or used again properly. But anyways this suits for my current needs.

As with any hatch it needs to installed on the computer that you will want to use it. Just copy paste.

Etransmit should send the hatch file along with the drawing if you use that.

If i put that hatch in my stretchable block and send the file with the block to another computer it works fine.

I mean that i don't have to send the .pat file. The hatch views and streches just like it should without having to have the hatch-file in every computer.

The hatch cannot be modified or re-applied with the other computers but it views correctly inside the block!

Don't know. Can't open those newfangled 2009 and newer drawings with my decrepit '08.

I did post a Hatch that I created using Hatch-Kit for the OP to use. Wasn't sure if what you posted was a hatch you use or a mimic of the OP's hatch that he uses. Could be the same but it is not a copy of yours, please don't release the feds on me 😉

Heck no Chuck I just forgot that yours isn't as new as mine. No I took the time to develop my own, although I think a .pat is a .pat is a .pat...

I also have a French pattern tile layout I did myself here somewheres...
