How to edit a non Block

Hello, I received a dwg file from somebody and there is a bunch of equipment that is put into a Block but when I highlight the Block and right click I don't get the option to edit the Block and when I try to explode it the command line says you cannot explode a hatch. Any answers on how I can edit this item?
