Grips and origin not moving correctly

I need some help on what the few issues are with this block. The Grips for stretching Horizontal do not stay within the middle of the block if the block is stretched a lot vertically. Also when it is stretched vertically the origin doesn't stay in the bottom corner. Is there a smarter way of keeping the spacing evenly when stretched as well?
