Dynamic Scale Bar Questions

Hi all. I'm working with C3D 2014. I am trying to convert our standard scale bar for use as a dynamic one that's tied to the viewport. But it's proving to be really difficult. I've got it so that it shows the correct numbers but I need to add text (see the image below).
But because these numbers have to be in a specially named attribute, I'm at a loss as to HOW I'm going to make this happen. I thought about just making them another text element right next to the attributes. But that could result in the text being too far right (lots of space between) or too far left (text on top of the attribute).
Also -- when placing this bar, I have to manually set the units to FEET and turn on the checkbox "Adjust divisions on zoom". Is there anyway to set these to be on by default for this scalebar?
I've attached my test file.
TIA!
