Dynamic blocks: Revision editor

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I'm trying to create a dynamic title block for drawing revisions issued. I've started with the attached. I can edit fine up to the sixth revision of a drawing. I now want to create additional (multiple) revisions but more previous ones down from their current position on drawing.

I want to limit the printing zone to 6 revisions and additional revisions will be viewable to the author only. The 6 most recent revisions would be viewable to whoever receives the printed drawing.

I've attached my attempt. I want the revisions from 7 on to travel down to the green no plot zone. I would therefore also like help in adjusting the layers of previous issues into NO PLOT Layers once in the green zone.

Hi,

The block which you have created has nested block inside which you have the attribute which cannot be edited from outside the block editor. I have created the drawing revision dynamic block from scratch which will not plot the from revision 7. This block created has the revision up to 16 you can create additional revision if you wish to do.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you. That appears to be working. However, I would like to maintain the most current revision at the top of the list like the attached image but maintain all previous revisions moving to the no-print layer. If that Makes sense. So I dunno those that entail having to reorganize after the 6th revision onwards?

hi!

chech this block (see attachment)

there are some rules to work with this block:

  1. do not edit attributes in XTITLEBLOCK NO-PRINT  layer - they have fields
  2. after change attribute values (for other attributes) use REGEN command
  3. to avoid to change attributes in XTITLEBLOCK NO-PRINT layer - you can lock this layer. In this case to edit other attributes you must press CTRL and double click to attribute and of course after use REGEN.

Sorry my bad, I misunderstood your requirement and created the block in a different way.

I guess that's the way @Anonymous wanted the block.

Hey @ojuris the way the block has been created is just awesome. I never went that deep in creating the dynamic block the way this block was created, and I never thought we could even create something like this as well. It's my request if you could share the screencast of how this block was created it would be very helpful.

THANK YOU!!!!

That is perfect! My only issue is that once I go past revision 09, it seems to disregard revision 4 (see issue 4 on screenshot) So  I've changed this manually using DDATTE command, from revision 9, and then it seems to hold that revision in future. Perhaps I can edit this block using DDATTE command for integration into my title block-block. Other than that it works perfectly. In an Irish context you might not need to issue additional revisions past 4 or 5 anyway.

I'll get to work making a sketch title block now. But like @vinodkl comment I would love to see screenshots of how you developed this concept to help me learn!!

THANK YOU!

I just try to fill attributes with values from pictures - I don't have problem (see attached)

I see in picture that in line 4 for Date, Description and Name attributes don't have fields. It means that afterwards you use block for next project in that attributes don't be correct information (from relevant attributes). I would recommend to lock not printed layer. And your command DDATTE will still work and you can't edit these attributes with field.

About screencast - if I got time for that, I made it.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to do this. I've rejigged my block following your advice, however, I've run into difficulties once I advance past revision 1 as the stretch command isn't working, or the array command.

I've attached my version. I'm intending on limiting the growth to 3 revisions and to display previous revisions in the "do not plot" layer underneath..,.. I can't get it to work though.

I've put a circle around the one Im working on in the model tab.

hi!

  1. You have two Lookup parameters with one Lookup table each but you must have one Lookup parameter with two Lookup tables (Double Lookup). BACTIONBARMODE must have value = 0. I add screencast how to create Double lookup
  2. All green lines in visibilities 01 02 03 must be invisible
  3. In array for green lines add only horizontal lines, not vertical. Vertical lines and "frame" line add in stretch action. Same to red lines.
  4. I recreate both stretch actions for D1 and D2. Something was wrong with them - I think you add them to wrong end of linear parameter or may be something else...
  5. I add Double lookup and for 6 rows add correct values. To add more rows in Lookup2 table you must type for D1 14.25 but for all other columns for each next value add 4.75

How you think you can work with this block? You don't add attributes in this block but add another block with attributes. That means you can't change attributes in drawing mode but only when you are in block editor - if you understand what I mean.

Screencast will be displayed here after you click Post.
