Dynamic Blocks issues in LT2020

Hi Team,

Why do dynamic blocks not work on my bosses Autocad 2020 lite program, even when the are saved back to 2018?

"save back to 2018" is not a thing in AutoCAD nor LT 2018-2019-2020-2021-2022: all DWG files are 2018 file format whether you want it to be or not. It is by design from Autodesk.

So what is the actual "do not work" problem exactly? Find out, spell out the exact issue(s) in detail, then share one or more of those blocks in a container file here for others to try as well.

TIA

Hi,

>>"even when the are saved back to 2018?"

BACK ? Back from what?

Upload a sample (dwg file with one block reference ONLY inside),

which works on your program

(which one is yours, Start command ABOUT, tell us the productname and version / or upload a screenshot)

but not in bosses

(which one is his, Start command ABOUT on this pc, tell us the productname and version / or upload a screenshot)

For usual there is no problem to use dynamic blocks, but without a dwg sample it is hard to say whats going on.

The block will appear, but the dynamic functions do not appear.

Your first post sounds like we are talking about one existing file,

your new comment sounds we are talking a function..

And it looks like you both are running differently toolpalette tools

or your block source files are different.

1. Rule: Tests only in new blank files!

Then

Right-Click on this toolpalette tool, properties, {stretch the dialog window to display the whole content} => Screenshot.

On both PC, share both Screenshots.

His office is a few miles from here, I was thinking it may be in the CUI in the "block Reference"
"Custom" and or "Attributes" settings.

Use the tool in a new fresh empty DWG and if it is still a problem

We are sure,  the toolpalette tool or the source file is not the same as yours.

>>" is a few miles away."

Where i live, we have telephones and we can use eMail..

Hey Boss, open your AutoCAD LT 2020,

1. Command: NEW , new file based on ACAD.DWT,

2. use the toolpalette tool and insert one blockreference,

3. save the file as dwg2018

4. send me this file via eMail

Do the same 1-3 and share both files,

this way we can check the blockname (Properties Palette CTRL+1)

and if the name is the same, we can compare the block definition.

I will have to go do this, he is old and doesn't even use Paperspace yet... So I think it is completely in his set up. I am working patiently to modernize him...

you will see, the blockname is another one and after Explode, it works as expected (but this isn't the solution)

Sorry, but i can't understand. Screenshots of what you mean are welcome

Your picture says nothing!?

All i can see is a modelspace with - it looks like- some blockreferences, inserted by the default pre-define

palette "Architecture"

But nothing is selected, so we can't see grips and no properties

>>"there is no pulldown tab for the blocks,"

Where should it be? Please share a picture of what you talking about!

Pulldown for Blocks??? Perhaps you are talking about command INSERT and the BlockPalette,

hmm

>>"no dynamic functions what so ever..."

Dynamic function you can see while a) in BEDIT

or if you SELECT one blockreference

but in your photo - nothing is selected.

PS: Screenshot are much better than a photo of a monitor.

hmm, What you talking about.

Please share THIS file and we check some things.

One try in the dark:

The resolution and dpi scaling on monitor looks worst.

resolutionnightmare.JPG

Perhaps this is the source of the problem?

I possible, set his resolution and DPI scaling more to a common setting,

simple fullhd wie dpi scaling 100% for example and as test.

(write down or remember the present setting to roll it back after the test)

And this is why everyone I know hates autocad and goes to solidworks,
chief architect, or a paper and pen.

@Anonymous Save that DWG file in your screenshot, and post it here. Do it now, let's touch the file for ourselves since all you appear to be using are the stock sample/freebies blocks.
